The son of a lumber material merchant, Marc-Aurèle Lemieux founded M. Lemieux Inc. in Quebec City in 1953.
From the beginning, the company was dedicated to distributing specialty industrial products for woodworking, such as sheet or belt abrasives and tools.
Initially, M. Lemieux Inc. secured distribution rights for Durex brand-name industrial abrasives.
Durex manufactured very high-quality abrasive products, but it was having a serious problem in supplying itself with the minerals it needed to make abrasives.
In 1957, Durex Canada went bankrupt. It was bought up by an emerging American company called Minnesota Mining Manufacturingnow known as 3M.
With 3M, the products formerly produced by Durex underwent spectacular sales growth, thanks to a constant stream of innovations from 3M and a virtually unlimited supply of mineralssince 3M owned the mines that could now provide the raw materials!
M. Lemieux Inc. grew over the following years. It diversified its clientele, who were previously confined to woodworking and metalworking product manufacturers.
In 1992, the company underwent further growth with the purchase of BOULONS ET ÉCROUS DLB Inc., the region's largest distributor of bolts and industrial fasteners. With this new acquisition, M. Lemieux Inc. expanded its expertise in industrial materials.
Even since then, we've been able to provide a wide range of all kinds of tools, abrasives, adhesives, and fastenersthe most complete range of products you may need for manufacturing, whether it be in woodworking or metal products.
